I got my I-140!!
FY-NA-LLY..after 557 days and nights of unreasonable wait, my I-140 was approved today. Got the damn automated email and was in a little bit of disbelief for a moment. I know I am making it sound like too much of a deal here, but those of you that have waited with me and continue to wait for immigration applications to get approved will understand.
Reactions?
My American citizen colleague at work: Poor guy, he knows too much about legal immigration issues and the condition of roads in Mumbai by now. He was happy for me and surprised I am not jumping up and down today. Sorry dude, the journey is not over yet, I still have the green card, citizenship, etc. etc. to shoot for - you will continue to receive unsoliticed information about Davids (us) and the Goliath (USCIS).
Wife: She jumped up and gave me a tight hug. She has had to listen to my painful complaints about USCIS EVERY DAY. Took her out for a nice dinner and tried my best not to talk about this, did stumble a couple of times, but overall, I did pretty good.
You guys are the next ones to know. Now I just hope USCIS does not mess up and send it to the wrong address like they’ve done with so many others in the past. I updated my address on their site well in advance of my recent move, so hopefully, I’ll be OK. So, those of you that move homes, do not forget to update your address via the ONLINE AR-11 form PLUS update your address for each petition that is pending for you. Also, this needs to be done for each petitioner separately (so you, spouse, kids separately). I know some that forgot to do the second part or did not do it for each petitioner and ended up missing their mails from USCIS.
There are still plenty of January-July 2007 applications that are not approved yet. I feel you guys’ pain, some of whom have been laid off. We understand your pain. Just keep trying and keep hating the wait.

Wow!!! This is great news!!! Am happy for you. Your approval provides hope for hundreds of us stuck in this never ending line. By the way what was your notice date or application receipt date? And was your labor substitution labor case?
Mine is EB-3 29-June-07 (Pre-approved labor)
Thanks
Kris

Congratulations Laura!!!!!
I have a question, if any of you can help me please. I am waiting on my I-140. It was received on Aug 9th, 2007; I have turned to my congressman to request his help and now I have to fill out a Privacy Act Consent Form, or at least I though that I had to fill one out. The office told me that it was my company who had to do it since they were the petitioners. I did not want to pay my boss a visit to request more signatures!!! Is this so? Do I have to go to my boss to complete this form? How have you done it? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!!

Andrea,
If you want to go through the Congressperson and they want this form, then yes, ideally your boss or your HR/legal department in your company will have to sign. It should just be a simple form so shouldn’t be too much of a hassle for them.
On the other hand, you could also try to wait it out without the Congressperson’s help. Yours should arrive any time now based on your date. NSC or TSC?

Hi Laura,
Sorry about the late reply.
I would have asked what nationality you originate from. Since you mentioned you are current, I assume you are not from India, China, Mexico, Canada or the Philipines.
If you are current, your processing time will be based on the current I-485 form processing time on the “Processing Dates” page (linked from the right sidebar of this blog). At present, it’s about a year’s wait..
Thanks,
Srini

Hi and thanks for the reply!
It is TSC; on the I-140 form the receipt date is Aug 9th, 2007, nevertheless on the Webpage and in their system(I called once) the date is Sep.11th, 2007. Why the difference? Which one should I go by?
Are cases from these dates arriving? I hope; it has been such such a long wait
We are in our 8th year (my husband and I).

Hi Endlesswait:
I am from Dominican Republic, our Priority date is March 2005 and they are supposedly on May 2005 at the moment. On your processing dates for NSC says I-485 for employment based (August 15th 2007) They received ours on October 3rd 2007, so it should only be a couple of months, technically right?
