Obama’s mention of immigration in his speech
President’s mention of immigration near the end of his State of the Union address:
“We should continue the work of fixing our broken immigration system to secure our borders, enforce our laws and ensure that everyone who plays by the rules can contribute to our economy and enrich our nation.”
Nice speech … for those who still have mental resources to invest. I do understand and agree that there are more important things than immigration, but what he’s doing here is putting a patch over gangrene. They will continue the work of fixing our broken immigration system at the same speed they have done until now. Thanks for nothing! (I’m sure Obama will blush after reading this post :))

They’ve been hailing the CIR as the one bill that will fix all immigration woes. Two problems. First, will the CIR EVER pass? Second, it’s unlikely to include change for legal immigrants in a big way.
Obama’s speech is FLUFF. That’s all…

First of all, you are reeeally stupid. You have no idea what you are talking about, don’t know what H1-B people go through or the benefits that they bring to the US.
Immigration is a normal phenomenon, all over the world, the fact that you hate immigrants it’s a bit like saying you hate rain. No matter what, it’s going to occur. You are very superficial, probably watched a show on FOX and now you think you have it figured out on immigration, or maybe you have a personal vendetta, in any case, the fact that you are browsing immigration sites writing xenophobe comments means that you have a problem. How come, since USA is so greaaaat?
On the other hand, if you were paid to write this stuff, please accept my apologies, the people who paid you are reeeealy stupid (feel free to include yourself in this category).

When they talk about Immigration reforms, they only talk about those who live and work here illegally and granting them legal status.
Why not they consider those poor guys who live and work here legally on employment visa, and waiting for years and years to get the permanent residency status, with no reason or explanation whatsoever from the Service Centers ?
There’s TOO MUCH of complications in the visa rules. WAY TOOOOO MUCH COMPLICATIONS. Not only Complications but descriminations as well in terms of the visa categories, geographies etc.
How else, an L1 visa holder can get his Green Card, just in 3 months upon his entry into the US, but a H1B holder waits for 10 years ?
Why don’t they streamline the process by simply issuing the Green Card to every applicant who stayed in this country for certain period of time, worked and paid the taxes ?
But look at the current system ? So many visas (H1, H4, L1, B1, J1 ……) and so many divisions within each category (for eg. EB1, EB2, EB3 etc. within H1B), each category having it’s own rules and regulations and complications, priority dates, application types ……..
This section of the ppl. were never shed enough light at all.
Please, please Mr.President, take a look at this mess first. Legalizing illegal immigrants can come later.
