I would like to do something, as pointless as it may seem, I’m an H4 and have all the time in the world until my work permit will come … 6-10 years? I searched for the website of the Legal Immigration Lobby in order to volunteer somehow, but found nothing, there is no such organization. Please give me some suggestions … a petition maybe?

Corina,
We feel your pain here on Endlesswait.com. Here are some things you can do:
1. There are hundreds of thousands of H4 visa holders like you in the same situation. If you really want to do something about it, try to get about 1000 of them together (via email, postcards, word of mouth, help from blogs and forums such as this one, etc.) and try to get help from any of the pro-immigration lobbyist groups like AILA and hope that since you are a large enough group that is willing to chip in with money, they can take up your case. This is the most effective route.
2. Contact your Congress person and bring up this issue. Bring it up with other Congresspeople that are pro-immigration. This info is widely published on newspapers, blogs etc. You just need to do some google searches to figure out who to approach. Again, instead of approaching them individually, doing so in a group is a lot more effective.
Hope that helps..

Thank you very much for the advice, I’ll get right on that, in the meantime I’ve composed a message that I have posted on some immigration blogs and wrote it also to the White House. I am an Obama supporter, but in my opinion:
If President Obama does not keep his promise of Immigration Reform this year, he either lied knowingly in the campaign or he is incompetent. I say incompetent because he knew back then of all the problems he would face: bad economy, healthcare…besides immigration, and yet, he promised he would make immigration a priority. Since then, nothing unpredictable happened so that his plan would be veered off course. If a disaster that nobody could predict happened, I would understand how this new pressing matter could interfere with his promises, but otherwise, all the other problems were well known, so I suppose he had some sort of idea of what was to happen, at least if he were competent he would.

Corina,
I am an Obama supporter too, and I agree with what you’ve said. Just curious, did you get any response from the White House?
We strongly believe that the H4 visa regulations need to be changed - in fact, as a priority. It was #3 on our list of the Top issues faced by immigrants in the US. http://www.endlesswait.com/i140/top-10-issues-faced-by-legal-immigrants-in-the-united-states/
If there is anything I can do for you via Endlesswait, please feel free to let me know. As a start, you or I can write a post on Endlesswait.com to try to get more people to join in your initiative. I can also add a banner ad on the right sidebar that links to your post for 1 month for free.
Good luck with your initiative.

Thank you very much for your support, I got no response from the White House, and my initiative isn’t going so well. I asked people to give me a message at immigrationreform2009@hotmail.com if they want to write to the Congress persons as a group and or if they want to pursue the AILA path, but not many replied. In addition to your suggestions, I asked them to send faxes to Congress here: http://reformimmigrationforamerica.org/ . Any help you can give me it’s more than welcome.

Hi Corina,
Somehow your comment got stuck in our spam filter and I just saw it.
If you can come up with a 120×120 banner image, i can provide you with a free ad for a month that will link to that site.
Feel free to write another post about this issue so that it comes out on top.
Other than that, if you can think of any other way that I can help, feel free to ask.
Thanks!
Srini

Corina, Sorry about the super late reply to this. I finally got banner ads up on the Endlesswait.com site. I’ve put your banner up. What site would you like to link the banner to? I’ve linked it to http://www.reformimmigrationforamerica.org/ for now since you referenced that in your comment. Let me know if you want it changed.
