CNBC airs debate - lay off H1Bs first?

This is turning out to be more and more of a heated debate. I am hearing about this from friends and co-workers and of course, being an immigrant, only my closest friends actually reveal their real opinions to me. One of my co-worker friends, an American, thinks it’s a no-brainer that H1Bs should be laid [...]

Dollar value going down can be good for us

Walmart says exchange rates hurt profits
This is what I was talking about in the previous post about Outsourcing. Dollar getting stronger can actually be bad for Walmart (and in turn, the US). In other words, as long as Walmart sold only to American customers, yes, it was a problem because every $ spent in Walmart [...]

Top 10 Issues Faced By Legal Immigrants in the United States

I’ve been trying to think of a list of the top 10 biggest issues that legal immigrants face today. There are hundreds of applications and each and every one of us has a different story. But many of us share the same kinds of worries at some point or the other. I am sure each [...]

Should US Workers get priority over H1-B workers during layoffs?

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley from Iowa seems to think so. Read this ComputerWorld report about Microsoft Layoffs. We think that’s ridiculous. This is where an experienced immigration [...]

If you have ever been ‘benched’, I’d love to hear from you; thanks

HI All,
I’m new to this blog, and have just registered; I’ve been practicing immigration law for 25+ years.
Those of you who do not already know this, the structure of the U.S. immigration system, the laws and regulations involved, make absolutely no sense (especially to any thinking, smart, or logical individual).
Part of the problem is that [...]

New Processing Dates - the lies keep coming..

New processing dates in NSC and TSC: I-140 for EB2 and EB3 are at August 2, 2007 now. I still know at least 20+ people personally and if you go look at Trackitt, you’ll see a hundreds that are still waiting for adjudication from the Jan-July 2007 timeframe. USCIS really must come out and talk [...]

A feasible solution to EB3 I-140s

I wrote the below comment to DHS’s journal last week. I hope somebody read it. There is a fair solution to this issue, and it is very doable. Here goes my comment:
——————————————————————————–
Dear Sir,
You see a lot of complaints on EB3 I-140s at NSC. They process EB2s but not EB3s. If they are going to wait [...]
